 Meles Zenawi's net worth: Meles Zenawi, an Ethiopian businessman and politician with a net worth exceeding $3 billion, was the former Ethiopian Prime Minister. Meles Zenawi was the former Premier of Ethiopia. Zenawi was the president of Ethiopia between 1991-1995 was the former premier of his country. He was also chairman of Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and was the leader of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) in the eighties. Zenawi was elected as the Premier of Ethiopia in 1995, passed away in August 2012. Zenawi also played a significant role in the US' War on Terror, helping to eliminate organizations that were deemed to be military, such as Al Qaeda. Furthermore, Zenawi received praised for his efforts towards establishing stabilizing relations with the African Union, playing an important role in improving continent's position in the fight against climate change. His leadership was however seriously criticized, with him being accused of ignoring a variety of human rights violations and also limiting the freedom of speech and press freedom.
